These
striking pieces by American Artist Lynn Read have a softness through the colour
palette used and the delicate contrast of the transparent bowl of each
form and the graduated colouring of the neck. Sculptural and simple but with a touch of colour also available in white.
Read's inspiration
stems from sources as diverse as medieval tapestry to Bauhaus. One of
the most important aspects of his work is that the pieces are all made
by hand, free of moulds and automation, using age old techniques of
glass blowing that have remained unchanged for centuries. The directness
of his approach is a welcome juxtaposition to the graphic nature of his
forms. |
