Brisbane is a true alchemist, creating sculptural pieces by sandcasting.
She exploits this spontaneous and organic technique by using the sand
as a manipulable mould to make detailed, delicate forms with texture,
inspired by the infinite variety of nature. The hot glass then replicates
these images with its own unique quality. All the colours used in
Amanda’s work are her own recipe, fusing an artist’s sensitivity for
colour with a scientist’s precise knowledge of metallic oxides.
For such size and drama these pieces are exceptionally elegant and exclusive to Vessel, are placed on a base of stainless steel. Like the setting to a precious stone, these bases add a wonderful contrast and reflection to the soft glow of the crystal above.
